For decades, Nick-A-Nees has served as a low-key refuge for music enthusiasts, as shared by Rich Watrous, who highlights the place's charm as a spot to catch friends perform. This endurance through the years is a testament to its commitment to providing a genuine music experience. It's not just a bar; it's a cultural hub where memories are made and friendships are formed.
If you’re ready to dive into the Providence music scene, Jay Gee encourages you to embrace the nostalgia, noting that while the local landscape may have changed, Nick-A-Nees retains the magic of its roots. Expect a mix of service styles that range from comically blunt to warm and welcoming. And with prices that are remarkably budget-friendly, you can spend more time enjoying the music and less worrying about your wallet.
Don’t miss out on the food either; while the atmosphere takes center stage, it's worth mentioning that the menu often complements the night’s entertainment, enhancing your overall experience. Delight in a selection of dishes that pair perfectly with a cold drink while you lose yourself in the rhythm of the live bands that play every night.
Overall, Nick-A-Nees is more than just a venue; it’s an experience waiting to happen. As Susan Wilson points out, the service is excellent, and the talent on display never fails to impress. So, whether you're in the mood for some fantastic live music, looking to meet new friends, or just want a pleasant evening out, Nick-A-Nees promises a night to remember.
“ You'll be hard pressed to find any better live music on a Tuesday night. NO COVER CHARGE, EVER! ”
“ Nick-A-Nees has always been one of my favorite music venues. They attract a diverse and interesting clientele. And they allow dogs. The outdoor live music event last night was ridiculously good. It was good to be home. ”
“ For several decades a low key, fun bar to catch friends performing at. Probably stop by a half dozen times a year. Recent photos with Dr Bruce Watson and friends. ”
“ Providence has pretty much destroyed its old 90s scene, with limited places to see music. But Nicks retains the tradition. It hasn't changed since the first time I walked in over two decades ago (including the bathrooms LOL). Service ranges from a little rude to kinda friendly, but as they get to know you they will all warm up a bit. VERY cheap prices for 2025 and music every night. Highly recommended!!! ”
“ Excellent service and the band was fantastic. The crowd really enjoyed them. ”
“ Local bar for live music and drinks. Wide variety of interesting people of all ages. Good Music. Favorite for me is Bluegrass on Wednesdays. Nothing fancy but good place to enjoy the music and a cold one. ”
“ I didn't have the food there so I can't give it a ranking, but this place is really cool, low key, with a laid back vibe. Bartender was quick and friendly, they get some really good musicians to play here. It's a cash only bar so some people might not like that but they have a ATM, cash bars don't bother me. It's a cool, chill spot, where you can just vibe and listen to some cool music. ”
“ Best kept secret in Providence. I hope that place never changes, it's perfect. Live music for free almost every night. Great staff, great crowd, great food. ”
